10 Inspiring Photos That Will Make You Want to Run A #PrettyFullMarathon

First thing’s first. Thank YOU for your unconditional support on my #PrettyFullMarathon journey. This is just the beginning! I hope these pictures inspire you to run your own #PFM out of pure self-love, and not guilt or self-sabotage. What I’ve come to find is that running is one of the most primal celebrations of my Earth Suit!

One of my favorite quotes from the Greek philosopher Antithenes is to “Unlearn what is untrue.” For me, that meant reframing my idea of running: That running actually wasn’t a punishment! Over decades of playing competitive sports, this was a hard core belief I had that I had to challenge myself to unlearn! Sprints, fence lengths, hills every time I dropped a ball or lost a game….ugh! Y’all know what I mean, right? Running was the WORST!

Yeh. I don’t know why coaches do that to us–because running is actually one of God’s greatest gifts. When it’s done properly, with the right coaching and rest (this is a biggie for all my overachievers here–including moi!), running is an incredible life-giving activity. We should not be afraid of one of our most primal movements. We should lean into it and discover ourselves through it.

So that’s what I’m doing. Leaning in. And I’m discovering so much about Emily and how strong my body and mind are. As you begin your running journey with your Pretty Full Marathon training guide, you’ll begin to draw connections and analogies to running and life: Committing to yourself everyday, learning what it means to be intuitive and tuning in to how you feel, and giving yourself permission to rest–especially after you push yourself (hellooooo type As! I see y’all on Instagram!).

And there’s a difference between resting and being lazy. Just thought I should clarify! If you like me to write a post diving further into this, leave a comment below and let me know. I love knowing what you want to hear from me.

Any who ha-ha, I know many of you have seen my finisher video on IG and commented with SO much love and celebratory emojis, so I wanted to show off some more of my race pics in hopes of inspiring YOU to COMMIT TO YOURSELF, too.

Because you deserve to put you first.

Because you–and your Earth Suit–are a miracle.

Because it’s time to finally feel happy in your Earth Suit!

Yay! So proud of you! I’m from the same mindset of running as a punishment from sports…trying to change that! Funny that you mentioned that! We seem to think the same on a lot of issues. I so enjoy your blog! I love these pictures and the joy that is beaming from you!

I’m so totally inspired by you! Started running about 2 weeks ago and I am PSYCHED to run a marathon in January. I’ve run on and off for years, but, like you, always felt it was as a punishment and not for joy. Then you came along and made it look SO FUN that I’m back on the wagon and loving it! It’s so different when it’s for me and for fun and I actually listen to my body instead of hate it. Thank you for being so open and keep up the great work!
