I’ve created a list of my favorite gear for your Pretty Full Marathon training–I use all of these products every time I run! They keep me prepared and feeling confident throughout my training, and most importantly, keep my practice completely safe so I’m able to sustain my happy Earth Suit. 🤗
Feetures! Elite Light Cushion Socks with No Show Tab: These are the only socks I wear to run in–I must have ten pairs–and they’re worth the investment. Other ankle socks have choked the top of my foot (feet swell on longer runs), causing injury. And who likes to be injured when they wanna move every morning out of self love? Not no one. 🙅🏻
Brooks Women’s Ghost 9 Running shoes: I only run in Brooks. These are my favorite shoes–I ran the Paris Marathon in them!
Sport2People Running Pouch Belt: I love that this belt is waterproof and size adjustable. It fits my iPhone (with the Mophie pack on), and has plenty of room for credit card and ID, and my yummy Huma energy gel packs.
Amphipod Hydraform Jett-Lite Thermal Water Bottle – 20oz: I’d love for you to run with a water bottle! This is the safest way to stay happy in your Earth Suit. I run with this bottle, and it’s the most comfortable fit, especially for warmer, sweaty days. I don’t run with a water belt because I find they bounce up and down and chafe my back.
Eat 🥑 🍎 🍌
Huma Chia Energy Gel Variety Pack: These are my favorite all natural energy gel packs–I eat one pack every 45-50 minutes while running. This particular brand is known for athletes with sensitive stomachs. And what I think is most important about this product is that it’s made from all real food with pronounceable ingredients. I didn’t get into running to feed my body with artificial gels–I wanna be the Highest vibration of me! So, I eat this on my runs. My favorite flavors are: Apples & cinnamon, lemonade, cafe mocha, and chocolate. My mouth is watering.
SaltStick Caps, Electrolyte Replacement Capsules: Pop one of these pills every 50 minutes with a gel pack. It keeps your muscles from cramping and makes your Earth Suit feel so much happier the day after a long run. This is a must for over 6 mile runs, especially in the summer heat when you’re losing water much faster.
The Pill Bag: Put your Salt Stick pills in this bag and shove them in your water bottle pouch.
Skincare 👸🏻 👸🏽 👸🏾 👸🏿
Babo Botanicals Super Shield SPF 50 Natural Sport Stick Fragrance Free Sunscreen: The best nontoxic face sunscreen–doesn’t burn my eyes when my face sweats.
COOLA Organic Suncare, Fresh Mango Sport Classic Sunscreen SPF 50: Keeps me from burning, even on my long runs. Love this smell!
Mophie juice pack reserve – Lightweight and Compact Mobile Protective Battery Case for iPhone 6/6s: Mandatory if you’re listening to music as you train. You don’t want your phone dying on you when you’re at mile 20 on your Pretty Full Marathon! Plus, should an emergency arise, you know you’ll always have enough juice to make a call.
JVC Gummy Plus Inner Ear Headphones: These earbuds work with the Mophie charger. You need an adapter plug to be skinny and straight–and the “L” shape earphone adapters won’t fit into the Mophie headphone plug.
Garmin Forerunner 235 : I started using this after the Paris Marathon because I realized I love running without music–it gave me time to focus on my form and clear out my busy brain. This watch tracks everything without being overly confusing for the novice runner. It is very nice to know what pace you’re training at, especially during your first PFM, because you don’t want to rush into your marathon come race day. Slow and steady–knowing your pace gives you so much more confidence and makes race day even more fun.
Pretty Full Marathon private Facebook group: Join for accountability and support on your self-love movement journey! Connect with PFMers across the globe, share recipes and tips + tricks to keep you on track and feeling strong during your training, and get private access to Emily and her personal running coach, Chad Weller.
Wahoo Fitness app: Track your time and distance while your playlist is jamming. This app will talk to you in your earbud every time you hit a mile or kilometer and let you know what your time is.
My Fitness Pal: Begin a positive relationship with your food and movement. If you’re afraid of obsessing about numbers, try keeping your food and movement relationship documented in a Moleskine 2017 Weekly Notebook. Document everything you eat, all of your movement, and how each thing makes you feel (ie: Felt light and strong when I made the Power Oats before my long run. Loved the Energizing Smoothie on my yoga day! The ginger root woke me up! I felt strong on my run today–I’m seeing the benefits of rest days!). The goal is to start becoming intuitive about what foods and movements make you feel best–like you have the most energy to give!
Are you signed up for your first Pretty Full Marathon–our first challenge starts summer 2017! I invite you to move–possibly for the first time ever–out of pure self-love!💖 No guilt, no shame! Our Earth Suits are absolute miracles–let’s celebrate that with moving for fun!
