Becoming a mom has entirely changed my relationshi Becoming a mom has entirely changed my relationship with my body. 

I see how my body nourishes my son’s. What goes in, goes out. I see the energy and attention I give him feeds him mentally and physically. Our bodies are a never ending energy cycles and exchanges. 

The fears I used to hold about days of exercise missed or days of food indulgences are completely shattered and done. This chapter of my life has been a rebirth for my son and myself. Thank goodness. 

In our house, we eat nourishing foods and we also eat cookies. Not one food gets more praise. We just love good food and celebrate it all. 

We have days of long car rides with sporadic runs through grassy fields, and days where almost every hour is spent outside playing. 

The one key in releasing my past fears and obsession with diet and exercise is a word I always come back to...grace. 

Grace is not just a false sense of radical self-acceptance where I pretend I really feel okay. I FEEL grace. And by feeling grace, I can radically accept it all in a beautiful way and know that it all fits together perfectly for me.

I spoke with mother and daughter Michele and @laur I spoke with mother and daughter Michele and @lauren_bongiorno about building full lives for children who have challenges, disabilities, and diseases. Michelle Bongiorno shared the tools and wisdom that helped her raise and empower Lauren in the face of her diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes.

I took a lot away from this episode about courage and grace in the face of challenges.

Just saying. #Weightloss photos like these can be Just saying. #Weightloss photos like these can be really triggering (swipe to see what really makes me SMH), especially in a time when we are all doing the best we can, and likely exhausted! 

Remember when you see someone else’s weight loss post, that you don’t need to lose weight, too. This is a time for staying alive, reflection, nourishment if and when possible, grace and forgiveness, gratitude for what we have, empathy, honesty, and radical self-acceptance. 

This is not a time for focusing on weight or  #bodyimage. When media and advertising accounts try and exploit your vulnerabilities and make you feel like you’re not good enough the way you are, be brave enough to remember the lane you’re in. 

The best response to these triggering posts is radical honesty—let’s be real and share what we’re really going through—and radical self-acceptance—grace for yourself and peace with all that is, even when it’s out of your control or imperfect. 

I am not impervious to our culture’s emphasis on body image and weight loss being “better than.” I have had my ups and downs, as you can see, and it was never linear. The journey to radical self-acceptance isn’t black and white. Let yourself off the hook. You’re doing the best you can. ❤️ Emily

Ugh I hate that rabbit hole, even when I know I’m in it—I can barely pull myself out of it. Before I know it, it’s and hour later and I’m laying in bed feeling like I lost an hour of my life.
