Fall in the United States is upon us, the season we focus on immunity the moment we feel a little something coming on. Here are a few of my tips for staying well as much as possible and staying ahead of the season as best as possible (I feel like I’m jinxing myself here).
1. Good hygiene is my #1 tip. Washing your hands with warm water and soap throughout the day is the best way to ward off any unfriendly germs.
2. Sleep, de-stressing activities like movement, meditation, even art classes, and nutrition are powerful ways to boost your body’s immunity. Stress, sleeplessness, and poor nutrition increase your risks of catching seasonal bugs.
I like to set a reminder alarm on my phone to go to bed at a decent time when I know I’ll get around 8 hours of sleep. (I actually thrive on 8.5 hours). You can use your phone reminders to stay ahead of the game with prevention techniques!
Also, try to challenge yourself to incorporate movement and/or meditation into your daily routine, even if it’s a brisk 10 minute walk or 5 minute meditation. It all adds up!
Long gone are the days of skipping breakfast, thinking it contributes to weight loss. We now know that breakfast is the meal that literally breaks your fast and revs up your metabolism, brain and physical functions for the rest of the day. Start your day with a nutrition packed breakfast. We have an egg allergy in our house, so I like a quick and easy breakfast like fresh berries, whole milk yogurt with some fiber-filled whole grains on top.
Want another nutrition challenge? Focus on adding as many different vegetables to your meals throughout the day and reach for fruit first when you’re still hungry and want something sweet!
Immune blend is for adults only.
3. My immune support fave is Nature’s Way Immune Blend*. Immune Blend contains six different mushrooms, (I am a huge mushroom lover), and can be taken once a day. These supplements are pure and nutritious! Adding mushrooms into our daily nutrition is a smart seasonal prevention plan.*
