Madri x Emily Nolan

I had the pleasure of collaborating with the beautiful high fashion clothing line for nursing mothers, Madri Collection. Here's a peek inside our Q + A!Madri: Tell us a little bit about yourself!EN: I am a former model at 16 different sizes (“straight size” meaning size 0-6 and plus size). I have a blog centered around health and well-being and I love to teach about radical honesty and radical self-acceptance. I am a new mama of my six month old boy, Oliver and loving motherhood and all the love and fun (and challenges!) it has brought in my life. I’m learning as I go and I’m certainly not an expert in motherhood, so I love engaging with my social media community to learn from them/you all.

I am a public speaker and I also host women’s retreats focused on bravery, which...I could use myself right now! I feel like I’m starting to get my “mama” sea legs and just starting to venture out with Ollie. I love when my “followers” and friends (I call them “frollowers”) write me and suggest next steps on filling up my cup and fun motherhood adventures. I believe bravery is a learned action and it all starts with the people you surround yourself with.

Madri: How has motherhood changed you?

EN: Oh my heart has just exploded, for one. I also have more empathy and understanding for people.

Madri: Biggest joys/challenges?

EN: My biggest joy was putting my phone away and soaking in every single moment with my little baby in the hospital. I will always remember holding him in my arms like a fierce mama protector. How could any mother forget that first feeling?

My biggest challenge was sleep and feeling like my schedule was SO NOT NORMAL in the beginning. Now we’re on a great schedule and doing pretty well as a team.

Madri: How long have you been nursing?

EN: I have nursed Ollie since day 1. We do something called EBF (exclusively breast feeding). He never gets a bottle unless there’s an emergency. I work from home so this works for us. We nurse this way to keep my milk supply regular—and I haven’t had any issues with supply since day 1. Which is a huge stressor for so many mamas!

Madri: What is your favorite Madri garment?

EN: I LOVE them all! If I had to pick one, I’d say the yellow pants because they’re thin enough to wear in the summer and have so much personality comfort! I also have to add that ANY of the nursing tops are adorable and clutch for a working mama. The jumper is SO unique!

Madri: What was/is your biggest nursing challenge?

EN: Oh there have been so many challenges! Is he getting enough milk? Am I doing it right? Pumping in the dark and then cleaning the breast pump at 2 AM just to relieve enough pressure so he can latch! #earlydays🤦🏻‍♀️ Is he allergic to something I’m eating?

Now that we’ve introduced food, I feel a bit of relief that I can nourish him with mama’s milk but also with God’s nourishment.
