Two Really Cool Things That Made My Valentine’s Day Party Unique

I am a self-professed holiday lover. After one holiday is over, I start thinking about the next and what I’m going to do to make the party or holiday unique for my friends and family.

My life, like yours, is full of unpredictable events. With an infant and interrupted bursts of sleep, this party took a liiittle bit of planning ahead, and it was so worth it. To be honest, these little gatherings and events that require a bit of thought and planning are a fun break from my everyday routine. To execute the party right, I plan ahead to keep myself from feeling overwhelmed with too many last minute tasks and chores the day of the party.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with friends we love.

I did two really cool things this year to make my Valentine’s Day party unique. One was to create a fun, creative desert project that put a more nutritious twist on your typical “sugar cookie.” The second super cute thing I wanted to do was replicate the fun of grade school Valentine’s Day cards with a Health Warrior twist.

All about balance.

The first thing I did the day before the party, was make “sugar cookies” using almond flour for a bit more nutrition and I added a bit of lemon zest to brighten up the cookie flavor. Several hours before the party, I pre-made the heart-shaped cookie glaze colors in ziplock bags so they wouldn’t dry out. This also made for a quick and easy clean up. When we were ready to glaze the cookies, all I had to do was cut a tiiiiiny hole in the tip of the ziplock bag and it became a piping bag. Let’s be honest, we’re not professional bakers over here, so precision in the cookie glazing category wasn’t a big deal to us.

This project was all about having fun and creating a fun activity that included the kiddos and adults. Everyone loved the homemade almond cookies, the flavors, and the fact that I swapped out some of the all-purpose flour with almond flour and a bit of lemon zest…and added a drop of my secret ingredient, “princess emulsion,” which is essentially cake batter extract. Yeh.

The second thing I did added a super sweet touch to the event and day, and didn’t require much planning. I sent my guests home with Health Warrior Dessert Chia bars and attached them to adorable Valentine’s Cards. This party favor was a thoughtful way to balance the V-Day “sweet scale.” I love sending guests home with party favors! And they were all happy to get these Health Warrior Dessert Chia bars.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about sugar, though that can be part of the fun. For our family, it’s truly about love, and sharing things we love with those we love. I love these bars because they’re my every day sweet treat that I know my friends can incorporate into their families’ lives, sans sugar high (only 3 g sugar). The Health Warrior Dessert Chia Variety Pack has all the fun of dessert without the unnecessary sugar. With chia being the main ingredient, it’s a nutritious pick-me-up snack for kiddos and adults alike. (All of my favorite flavors–Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Caramel Sea Salt and Peanut Butter Chocolate–are in this dessert variety pack!)
